Highlights include Miles Davis's Blue Haze, Miles' Theme, Sometimes I'm Happy, and a lovely reading of So What. Effortlessly swinging, deeply musical, and hugely enjoyable.

His unclassifiable piano style — simultaneously rooted in swing and open to modern jazz — is utterly compelling throughout. Garner had the remarkable ability to record three albums in a single day, all in colourful first takes, and the spontaneous energy and invention that characterises this album makes it feel like a live, in-the-moment experience every time the needle drops.
