Format: LP - GR Records. GR Records, USA released in 1979, stereo, recorded in Florida. Afro Cuban roots music from Gina Martin; percussion with a strong African influence. Many of the songs are taken from the Cuban Santeria religion. The producer was Gina Martin, the label GR is Gina Records. Gina Martin worked for many years in Cuba as singer with Obdulio Morales and Celina Y Reutilio. Lost in obscurity after the revolution until achieving something of a resurgence when Latin Xpress re-worked and collaborated with her, the single 'Chango' being the result. 8 tracks including: Iroco, Orichaoco, Chango, Inle, Agayu, Ochun, Dada, Baba Fururu. Nice copy, slight shelf wear, vinyl looks unplayed.
Gina Martin - Rhythm Roots (LP-007)
Format: LP - Antilla Records. Antilla Records, USA, no date. Antilla issue of a Puchito record. This LP features two Cuban percussion ensembles: Conjunto Guaguanco Matancero and Papin Y Sus Rumberos, one side for each. Guaguanco Matancero would later become Los Munequitosde Matanzas. Powerful Afro-Cuban percussion accompanied with vocal harmonies from Cuba's best ensembles in the 1950s and 60s. 12 tracks including: Los Munequitos, Los Beodos, Cantar Maravilloso, Ta Contento El Puebl, El Chisme De La Cuchara, Te Aseguro Yo, Tu Olvido-Los Rosales, Mi Quinto, Maria De La O-La Bien Paga, Tani, Blancas Margaritas, Yo Soy Cubano.
